An El Paso man has been detained following a SWAT standoff that stemmed from allegations of vehicle vandalism in the Lower Valley area. 21-year-old Emilio Carrazco was arrested early Tuesday morning after an incident that began Monday night, as recounted by the El Paso Times. Carrazco is now facing criminal charges related to the damage he allegedly caused.
The situation initiated around 9:35 p.m. on Monday, when El Paso police were alerted to a man with a weapon who had purportedly damaged vehicles at the Western Burgundy apartments. Shortly before their arrival, Carrazco had entered his home, according to officials, and steadfastly refused to come out, thus requiring the Special Weapons and Tactics team to step in, which resulted in his capture without further incidents as per KFOX-TV. The damaged vehicles, located near Del Valle High School, were discovered by officers upon their arrival.
Carrazco is now facing two separate charges of criminal mischief, with one being a state jail felony for damages exceeding $2,500 and the other a Class A misdemeanor for damages between $750 and $2,500. He is currently held at the El Paso County Jail, and as indicated by jail records, his total bond amounts to $13,000. No legal representation for Carrazco is listed in court documents at this time…
