El Paso Standoff Resolved: Armed Suspect in Mental Crisis Arrested on Multiple Charges Including Domestic Violence

On a late-night call on Wednesday, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched on a report of a domestic violence incident where the suspect was having a mental health crisis and had a firearm. The call, which came just before the stroke of midnight, described a man threatening self-harm if law enforcement were to show up. The caller, who said they were assaulted, managed to secure themselves along with two children inside the residence while the male suspect remained outside with the weapon.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, in a statement, detailed deputies arriving on scene to set up containment and make attempts to reach the suspect by telephone. Eventually, Robert-Anthony King, 29, tried to force his way back into the home, an effort thwarted by the authorities. After locating King outside, the deputies were able to convince him to surrender, ending the standoff without further incident.
