Just when we finally came to terms with DK gas stations replacing our beloved 7/11s, here comes OXXO, Latin America’s convenience store juggernaut, rolling in like it owns the place. They’re held a press conference on October 2 to announce their grand U.S. expansion plans, but make no mistake, this is less a business move and more a full-scale invasion.

The Day 7/11 Disappeared From El Paso

A few years ago, we were betrayed. 7/11 was ripped from our grasp and replaced with DK, leaving us to wander the desert like lost souls, clutching Speedway Slurpees that just never hit the same. Free Slurpee Day turned into a hollow, joyless ritual.

Sure, DK tried to fill the void with “Speedy Rewards,” but did we ask for coupons? No. We asked for Big Gulps, taquitos spinning endlessly on heated rollers, and the neon glow of a 7/11 sign guiding us home at 3 a.m.
