They’re held a press conference on October 2 to announce their grand U.S. expansion plans, but make no mistake, this is less a business move and more a full-scale invasion.
The Day 7/11 Disappeared From El Paso
A few years ago, we were betrayed. 7/11 was ripped from our grasp and replaced with DK, leaving us to wander the desert like lost souls, clutching Speedway Slurpees that just never hit the same. Free Slurpee Day turned into a hollow, joyless ritual.
Sure, DK tried to fill the void with “Speedy Rewards,” but did we ask for coupons? No. We asked for Big Gulps, taquitos spinning endlessly on heated rollers, and the neon glow of a 7/11 sign guiding us home at 3 a.m.
DK Gives Way to OXXO in El Paso
Now, DK itself is about to be gutted. OXXO is taking over the very stations that once took over 7/11. If this feels like a gas station soap opera, that’s because it is. One day we’re Speedways, the next we’re DKs, and now, soon, we’ll be OXXOs…
