On November 5, 2025, the Sunland Park Police Department was cross-commissioned by the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office. The ceremony took place at the Sunland Park Multi-Generational Center. Officers from both agencies attended the event.
The cross-commissioning allows Sunland Park police officers to operate outside their usual jurisdiction. This change aims to improve coordination and public safety in southern Doña Ana County.
