In El Paso, Texas, the local government and various environmental organizations have come together to put the green in greening efforts with a collective show of force in arboriculture. The City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department, along with the West Texas Urban Forestry Council and Texas AgriLife Extension of El Paso, hosted a Tree Planting Ceremony on Texas Arbor Day, a fitting acknowledgment of the importance of urban forestry and environmental education in the community.
Capistrano Park was the chosen staging ground for the initiative, and the event saw the participation of some 150 students from Capistrano Elementary School, embedded in the action of planting new saplings.
