Horizon City Police uncover contraband in traffic stop

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A traffic stop conducted on Sunday, Nov. 2, led to the arrest of a 57-year-old man for having a hidden compartment in his vehicle containing drugs and other contraband, according to the Horizon City Police Department.

On Nov. 2, officers conducted a traffic stop on Javier Balderas Gomez, 57, after they observed he had committed a traffic violation. A records check revealed that Gomez had an outstanding criminal warrant from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office for tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair, as well as outstanding traffic warrants from Horizon City.

During the investigation, officers discovered a small black box hidden in a compartment not installed by the vehicle manufacturer, which appeared intentionally constructed to conceal contraband, according to police…
