EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has approved over $200 million for bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure to improve safety, mobility, access and quality of life across the state.
The $284.8 million Transportation Alternative funds will go towards 73 projects statewide, and the El Paso District will receive over $36.5 million, according to the news release by TxDOT.
The following El Paso District projects will be funded by the Transportation Alternative funds:
- Project Sponsor: City of El Paso
- Magoffin, Piedras and Paisano shared-use path. Federal funding amount: $13,390,000
- Project Sponsor: City of Horizon City
- Howard Lowe Pedestrian Mall. Federal funding amount: $2,270,000
- Project Sponsor: City of Socorro
- Rio Vista Road, complete streets feasibility study. Federal funding amount: $2,813,000
- Project Sponsor: El Paso County
- Mission Valley Paso del Norte (PDN) Trail Phase 1, Federal funding amount: $17,652,000
- Project Sponsor: Village of Vinton
- Vinton Active Transportation Plan. Federal funding amount: $457,000
