9th annual Krampus Fest coming back to El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A traditional festival that celebrates an old German folklore tale around Christmas is coming back at the El Paso County Coliseum for the 9th edition.

A Krampus festival is a traditional Alpine celebration, most often held early in December, where people dress as the horned, mythical beast Krampus to punish the “naughty” children on the eve of St. Nicholas Day. The tradition has roots in pre-Christian, pagan rituals associated with winter solstice rites, which were later integrated into Christian celebrations.
