Barrio Azteca leader ‘Tablas’ pleads guilty to US Consulate murders in Juarez

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) — A reputed leader of the Barrio Azteca gang has pleaded guilty to murder and other charges related to the shooting death of a pregnant U.S. Consulate employee and two others in 2010 in Juarez, Mexico.

Leslie Ann Enriquez Catton and her husband, Arthur Redelfs, had left a birthday party and were in their car with their 7-month-old daughter when they were gunned down on March 13, 2010. The child was unharmed.

In a separate attack, gunmen killed Jorge Alberto Salcido Ceniceros, the husband of another U.S. Consulate employee in Juarez.

On Wednesday, in a federal courtroom in El Paso, Eduardo Ravelo, aka “Tablas,” pleaded guilty to charges of racketeering conspiracy (RICO), conspiracy to distribute and import drugs, money laundering conspiracy, conspiracy to commit murder in a foreign country, and murder in aid of racketeering.

Prosecutors say the 56-year-old Ravelo was the leader of the Barrio Azteca gang in Mexico beginning around 2004. As a captain in Juarez, he reportedly directed and controlled the gang’s drug trafficking activities and was responsible for multiple “hit” or “sicario” squads…
