El Paso Roadwork Alert: Major Lane Closures to Impact Commutes Starting January 5

El Paso commuters, brace yourselves for a slate of roadwork closures kicking off the New Year. According to the Texas Department of Transportation, starting Monday, January 5, and continuing through the week, several maintenance projects will affect major thoroughfares throughout the city. The work schedule includes lane closures on SH-178 (Artcraft), various sections of US-54, and the addition of safety features, such as improved lighting and a new runaway truck ramp on Loop 375.

The Borderland Expressway Phase 2 construction will lead to intermittent lane closures on US-54 east- and westbound between Mesquite Hills and McCombs. Flaggers will be on-site directing traffic, and while inconveniences can be expected, these changes pave the way for a smoother, more efficient commuting experience down the line. Mesa Street will also see lighting improvements, necessitating the closure of the west- and eastbound left lane at De Leon and Resler during work hours.
