El Pasoans Line Up For Tamales And Traditions

For El Paso, the holiday season does not officially begin with lights, music, or even presents. It begins when Tamales Lupita goes viral again and the parking lot turns into a full-blown Christmas traffic situation.

For decades now, Lupita’s has been a cornerstone of holiday tradition in the Sun City. Every year, right on cue, the lines stretch out of the building, cars spill into the street, and families patiently wait their turn to stock up on dozens of tamales to take home for Nochebuena and every celebration that follows. It is not chaos. It is ritual.

FitFam posted a video showing exactly what locals expect to see around this time of year: wall-to-wall customers, packed parking spaces, and a steady flow of people hauling bags of tamales like precious cargo. For anyone who has lived here long enough, it was less “wow” and more “yep, that checks out.”
