EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Zoo’s veterinary team is providing care to a lethargic bald eagle, according to the zoo’s Facebook post on Wednesday, Dec. 31.

Someone first reported the sick bird to the Gila Wildlife Rescue in Silver City, New Mexico.
The veterinary team received the eagle and started to provide medical care. The bird is “extremely thin” and anemic — low red blood cell levels — which is causing weakness and fatigue, according to the Facebook post.
Additionally, no broken bones were found during the eagle’s exam. A blood sample and an oral swab were sent to a lab for infection or toxic lead levels, but results are still pending, according to the El Paso Zoo…
