SUNLAND PARK — Corrina Corrina, the queen of New Mexico horse racing, is the 6-5 morning-line favorite in Sunday’s 25th running of the $80,000 New Mexico State Racing Commission Stakes.
The race is the eighth on a nine-race card headlining the opening weekend of live racing at Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino. The Sunday program also features the 35th renewal of the $65,000 KLAQ Stakes, which includes eight of the region’s top older thoroughbred sprinters.
Trained by Gary Cross for owner Derrick W. Jenkins, Corrina Corrina is seeking her third consecutive win in the New Mexico State Racing Commission Stakes and her 10th win in 15 starts over the course.
