El Paso film crew to audition women for Selena role for new short film

An El Paso film crew is seeking a young woman to portray Selena in a new short film, “La Reina del Tex-Mex.”

The role is open to a woman, ages 18 to 30. Auditions will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, in the center courtyard of the Outlet Shoppes at El Paso. Applicants who are 16 or 17 could apply if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Dakota Thomas, producer and writer, said “the film is deeply inspired by my childhood growing up here in El Paso. Selena’s music is truly rooted in our hometown. While I didn’t understand Spanish, the music of Selena y Los Dinos really spoke to me. I think that is special. Not everyone can connect like that.”…
