Ysleta del Sur Pueblo elects new officials, honors late leader

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Ysleta del Sur Pueblo has elected its 2026 Tribal Officials, including a new Cacique, while honoring the late Jose G. Sierra Sr.

As KTSM previously reported, former Cacique Sierra died back in August 2025 at the age of 82.

Tiguas remember life of late tribal leader

During the announcement of the new Tigua Cacique, the tribe honored Sierra, “the community remains deeply grateful for his lifelong leadership, wisdom and unwavering dedication to the Pueblo and its tradition. His legacy continues to guide and inspire future generations,” read the news release by the Tiguas.
