Electric vehicle manufacturer selects New Mexico for new manufacturing facility, US headquarters

SANTA TERESA, N.M. (KRQE) – Electric vehicle manufacturer GreenPower Motor Company has chosen New Mexico for the site of its next manufacturing facility and U.S. corporate headquarters.

Legislative Finance Committee shares $11.1B budget recommendation

As part of the company’s agreement to expand to Santa Teresa in southern New Mexico, the company will receive a combined near $15 million in incentives and tax credits from the New Mexico and will provide dealer-level vehicle pricing to the state, the New Mexico Economic Development Department announced Thursday.

“Establishing GreenPower’s new manufacturing facility in Santa Teresa marks a significant milestone in our expansion and commitment to safe, sensible, sustainable transportation solutions,” said Fraser Atkinson, CEO of GreenPower, in a news release. “This strategic move leverages the region’s highly skilled and dedicated workforce, which has long been recognized as a key driver of economic growth and innovation in southern New Mexico.”

GreenPower Motor Company is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, with current operational facilities in southern California and West Virginia. The new 135,000 sq. ft. facility in Santa Teresa will become the company’s base for North American operations and U.S. corporate headquarters.
