‘Coldest weekend’ of winter ahead in El Paso, Southern New Mexico

Chilly weather is moving into the Borderland, and winds will make it feel even colder.

Temperatures are expected to drop up to 10 degrees below average in West Texas and Southern New Mexico beginning Friday, Jan 9 and through the weekend, with morning lows plunging to 10 to 20 degrees, though the wind chill could make temperatures feel as low as minus five degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
