El Paso veterans gather to honor legacy of World War II hero, legend ‘Col. Bob’ Chisolm

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The word “hero” is often bandied about and often overused.

But for the late Army Lt. Col. Robert E. “Col. Bob” Chisolm, hero is an absolute accurate description of how he lived his 96 years on this planet. Hero may not even come close to describing what he did during a nearly 30-year career in the Army.

Chisolm was a combat veteran in three wars — World War II, Korea and Vietnam — and is one of only about 325 soldiers to be a triple recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge for fighting in three wars.
