EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Candy Arrellano, whose home was destroyed when a water main line broke this past weekend in Northeast El Paso, told KTSM 9 News on Friday, Jan. 16, that “everything is up in the air.”
Water main break floods Northeast El Paso home, leaves thousands without service
Arrellano says her family of 10 was displaced after the break and had been staying at a hotel. She had a meeting with El Paso Water earlier this week, during which the utility discussed the possibility of purchasing the property.
Arrellano added that they cannot go back into the home because it’s uninhabitable, and crews have poured sand along with cement under the house. Arrellano, along with her family, will be okay until next week, but everything is up in the air.
As KTSM 9 News has previously reported, Arellano’s home was the most impacted by the break, and she says water rushed into her home after a rock wall in the backyard collapsed.
The 36-inch water main break caused 100,000 people to be without water in Northeast and Central El Paso for several days this week and also prompted a boil advisory.
