As public media tries to find its foot holding after the loss of federal funding, Texas Tech is looking to a former student and West Texas native to lead its local NPR and PBS stations.
On Wednesday, TTU named Julie Grimes as the new executive director at Texas Tech Public Media to lead its PBS and NPR stations in Lubbock, San Angelo and El Paso.
“I hope to bring some of the connections that I have in Lubbock, and just build more community consensus, as well as find new and collaborative ways to tell amazing stories from West Texas,” Grimes said. “And then do what we can to elevate that to the state level and even beyond, through the PBS distribution channels when appropriate, and or NPR.”…
