The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announces the following traffic closures for the I-10 Widening West project. These measures ensure safe and efficient progress on infrastructure improvements. All times are approximate and subject to weather or operational needs.
I-10 Widening West
Weekly Closures: Through Saturday, February 7
- Daily (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., as needed): Alternating lane closures on North and South Desert Boulevard between Vinton and Mesa.
- Saturdays (7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., as needed): Alternating lane closures on I-10 eastbound and westbound between Vinton and Mesa.
Crew activities: Miscellaneous construction tasks.
Nighttime Closure: Tuesday, February 3 (9:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.)
- Full closure: I-10 eastbound between Vinton and Artcraft.
- Detour: Exit at Vinton/Westway, proceed along South Desert Boulevard, and re-enter I-10 via the Redd entrance ramp.
Crew activities: Installation of overhead signage at two locations.
Continuous Closures (24/7, through end of February 2026)
- South Desert Boulevard between Transmountain Road and Isela Rubalcava Lane reduced to one lane.
- Transmountain Road West-to-East turnaround closed.
- Detour: Utilize the Transmountain Road intersection.
Crew activities: New roadway reconfiguration for South Desert Boulevard.
I-10 Widening West 2
Continuous Closures: Sunday, February 1 – Saturday, February 7
- Bridge C U-turn underpass closed between Anthony, TX, and Vinton, TX.
- Detour (North Desert): Proceed to Anthony, TX, and use the U-turn bridge.
- Detour (South Desert): Proceed to Vinton, TX, and use the U-turn bridge.
- South Desert Boulevard left lane closed between Valley Chile Road and Vinton Steel (Bridge D).
- Detour: Single lane maintained with access to Valley Chile entrance ramp; continue past Bridge D.
Crew activities: Bridge demolition, construction, and wall installation (Walls 13 and 14).
Daily/Nightly Closures: Monday, February 2 – Saturday, February 7
- 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (daily) and 9:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. (nightly): Alternating lane closures on I-10 eastbound and westbound, plus North and South Desert Boulevard between Anthony and Nashua.
- Crew activities: Concrete paving operations.
- 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.: Bypass lanes closed eastbound and westbound between Redd Road and Mesa Street.
- Detour (eastbound): Continue on South Desert Boulevard through Thorn Intersection to I-10 before Mesa Street.
- Detour (westbound): Continue on North Desert Boulevard through Thorn Intersection to I-10 before Redd Road.
- Crew activities: Installation of ornamental fencing at Thorn Intersection.
