EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A student from Dr. Sue A. Shook Elementary School was surprised with an award by the mayor of El Paso.
Fifth-grader Robin Isabella Mota received Mayor Renard Johnson’s Team of Excellence award for the month of February.
Mota was not only recognized for her straight-A’s but also for her invention, ThermoGuard: a bracelet that changes color based on body temperature.
She says the inspiration for the invention came from her brother. Her family travels a lot, and Mota says sometimes they will forget to bring a thermometer to check her brother’s temperature. The family wouldn’t know when the brother had a fever until he spoke up…
