Dismissal time turned dangerous outside SSG Manuel R. Puentes Middle School in far East El Paso on Wednesday, when an ATV rider plowed through a marked crosswalk and struck a 9-year-old student on a bicycle, according to witnesses. A crossing guard was directing traffic at the time, but people at the scene said the all-terrain vehicle barreled through anyway. The rider reportedly stopped for a moment, then took off after being asked for information, and the incident is now being treated as a hit-and-run.
