El Paso Museum of Art Reopens With Stunning Frida Kahlo Exhibit

Art lovers rejoice because after several months behind closed doors, the El Paso Museum of Art has officially reopened and it’s coming back stronger than ever.

The museum temporarily closed for a $3.5 million infrastructure upgrade focused on modernizing critical behind-the-scenes systems. Improvements included enhanced environmental controls to better preserve artwork and upgraded security systems to meet the highest museum industry standards.

“Thanks to this critical infrastructure investment, the El Paso Museum of Art maintains its standing among a small percentage of museums in the United States to adhere to the highest industry standards,” said Ben Fyffe, City of El Paso Quality of Life managing director.

While the doors were closed, the museum’s mission never paused. Staff hosted nearly 50 off-site workshops and community arts programs, continuing to connect with El Pasoans across the city…
