‘Always putting others first:’ El Paso educator dies trying to stop alleged drunk driver

An El Paso educator known for her kindness and aiding those in need died after she was struck by a rolling vehicle as she attempted to stop another woman from driving drunk, court documents state.

Ana Maria Paniagua, 57, offered to drive Aurora Morales, 62, home about 5:20 p.m. on Feb. 7 because she was worried Morales was drunk, as she was coping with the anniversary of her son’s death, a criminal complaint affidavit states.
