Colors Casing Ceremony held for 3K Fort Bliss soldiers deploying to Europe

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — More than 3,000 soldiers from Fort Bliss’ 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team are preparing to deploy to Poland, marking a significant transition as they cased their colors in a traditional Army ceremony.

The colors casing ceremony was held on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 1st AD Headquarters Parade Field, located at 11685 Sergeant Major Blvd. in Fort Bliss.

The soldiers will be deployed in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve, where the brigade will replace the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division from Fort Riley, Kansas, “as part of a regular rotation of forces to support the United States’ commitment to NATO allies and partners,” read a news release by the 1st Armored Division.

“We conducted a casing of the color ceremony, which symbolizes the, you know, the brigade’s colors symbolize its rich history, all the battles and wars that it’s fought in the past on behalf of the 1st Armored Division in the United States. And so casing the colors symbolizes that the brigade is transitioning back to a deployment.
