City says it is continuing to fight natural gas rate hike

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The City of El Paso says it is continuing its legal challenge by filing a motion for a rehearing in the Texas Gas Service rate case.

This comes as El Paso residents are reporting “sudden, steep increases in their natural gas bills,” the City said.

The City said it has consistently opposed the rate increase throughout the regulatory process and has advocated for protections specific to El Paso customers.

Following the RRC’s approval of the rate increase, El Paso City Council authorized the city attorney, in consultation with the city manager, to file a motion for a rehearing to formally challenge the decision and continue the City’s efforts to ensure any approved rates are fair, reasonable, and supported by appropriate analysis…
