City to appeal decision in natural gas rate case

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso City Council voted on Monday, March 2 to continue the City’s fight for local ratepayers by authorizing the city attorney to appeal the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) decision in the Texas Gas Service (TGS) rate case.

City says it is continuing to fight natural gas rate hike

On Feb. 16, the council authorized the city attorney to file a motion for a rehearing with the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC). A decision on the motion for the rehearing is still pending.

Together, these steps ensure the City is using every available legal avenue to challenge TGS’s rate case by appealing the RRC’s final decision and asking the courts to review whether the decision complies with state law and is supported by the record, the City said in a news release.

Basically, this gives the City a two-pronged approach in its fight against the natural gas rate increases, which residents have said have skyrocketed their bills…
