EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso County officials and the government of the state of Chihuahua in Mexico met to discuss working together on several projects, including the Tornillo border crossing.
In a news release, El Paso County said its delegation met with Secretary Ulises Fernandez Gamboa of the Secretariat of Innovation and Economic Development from Chihuahua to discuss “operational efficiencies” at the Tornillo-Guadalupe Port of Entry, the development of the aerospace industry and the creation of a binational committee focused on coordinating infrastructures and economic development.
The idea is to study how the Tornillo border crossing works and identify the needs across the aerospace and manufacturing industries.
During their visit, Commissioner Iliana Holguin from Precinct 3 (Mission Valley, Far East El Paso) and Commissioner Sergio Coronado from Precinct 4 (West El Paso County, including Canutillo, Anthony, the Village of Vinton, and Westway to Northeast El Paso just above Hondo Pass) signed a non-binding Letter of Intent toward activating the Binational Public Policy Roundtable between El Paso County and the State of Chihuahua…
