2 popular batches of tortillas, distributed all over Texas, are being recalled after the FDA noticed something missing.
Don’t freak out just yet, only certain people need to worry about this and … to my knowledge … this brand isn’t even sold in El Paso.
The recall has to do with how ingredients are listed on the label(s) and the potential for allergic reactions. I don’t think I’ve ever even seen this brand in El Paso but, for safety’s sake, be careful with Mama Grande tortillas.
Mama Grande tortillas are made in Mission, Texas and distributed all over the lone star state. I’ve been buying tortillas around the 915 for decades and I don’t recall ever seeing this brand. I’m not the tortilla overlord though, (and they’re also sold online), so; here’s the deal …
What’s Wrong With Mama Grande Tortillas?
Nothing. There is no reason to avoid the tortillas unless you suffer from certain food allergies. (Wheat and/or soy products.) If you do, you need to be aware that a couple of ingredients were accidentally left off the labels of a recent batch.
Which Mama Grande Tortillas Have Been Recalled?
The recall affects 2 types of Mam Grande tortillas and, (again) has nothing to do with the tortillas; just how their ingredients are listed.
- Gorditas de Azucar with UPC 860010238134 and all expiration dates
- Doraditas de Azucar with UPC 5901234123457 and all expiration dates
