Escobar calls on Meta for transparency, answers on new data center impacts

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar, D-Texas, is calling on Meta to hold public listening sessions and provide answers to El Pasoans on the impact of the new data center.

This comes as Meta announce it’s expanding its data center in El Paso to 1 gigawatt, increasing its investment from $1.5 billion to over $10 billion and creating hundreds of permanent jobs and thousands of construction roles.

The Army also announced on Thursday, March 26 the selection of a private industry to build and operate a commercial data center at Fort Bliss.
