Inmate who died at El Paso jail identified

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The 38-year-old inmate who died at the El Paso County Jail Annex appeared to have suffered a seizure, according to a custodial death report obtained by KTSM 9 News on Thursday, May 21.

As KTSM previously reported, on Friday morning, May 8, detention staff at east El Paso jail responded to a “medical emergency” involving an inmate, identified as Edward Tomas Moore.

Sheriff’s Office: Inmate dies at Jail Annex after ‘medical emergency’

Moore was incarcerated for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, interfere with emergency request for assistance, and active arrest warrant or probation revocation for possession of a controlled substance, with a total bond of $225,000. According to the death report, Moore had been in jail since Sept. 11.

According to KTSM archives, Moore was arrested in December 2021 allegedly opening fire on a car and a person in Horizon City.

It was noted in the death report from the Texas Attorney General’s Office that Moore had pre-existing medical condition, but did not specify the exact condition. The results of the autopsy are also still pending…
