Fire burning in Gila for a month now nearly contained

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The wildfire burning in the Gila Wilderness for more than a month is nearly contained, fire officials said Friday, May 22.

The Hummingbird Fire, burning 15 miles east of Glenwood, New Mexico, is now at 87 percent containment as of Friday afternoon.

The fire is mapped at 5,716 acres with no additional growth reported.
