EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Seven Cabins Fire, burning in Southern New Mexico, is now at 43 percent containment, fire officials said Sunday, May 24.
Fire officials report “substantial progress” in the fight against the fire, thanks to what they are calling “cohesive ground and air efforts.”
The fire, which is burning in the Capitan Mountain Wilderness area, is now listed at 25,186 acres. The fire has been linked to a fatal plane crash that killed four people on May 14 but the official cause of the fire remains under investigation.
About 900 firefighters are on scene, fighting the blaze. Resources include 40 crews, 40 engines, eight helicopters, 44 water tenders and 11 dozers…
