‘The Trust Hotel’ – officials break ground on former Renaissance Centre renovations

The former Renaissance Centre has stood at the corner of 10th and State Streets for nearly 100 years, but now Erie’s tallest building is entering a new era in its history.

On Friday, Governor Josh Shapiro, building owner Christian Siembieda and other project leaders swung a sledgehammer at an old wall in the building, officially starting renovations to turn it into “The Trust Hotel.”

“Today is a fantastic day. It’s a culmination of three and a half years of pre-development work,” said Christian Siembieda, owner of the Trust Hotel. “We’re going to be providing about 195 guest rooms with various amenities like a gym, spa, grand ballroom and meeting spaces and other amenities that you’d expect in a big city hotel.”…
