Constituents from Millcreek Township and throughout Erie County came to speak at the Millcreek Township Board of Supervisors meeting on July 28 about the Flock Safety cameras still operating at the Millcreek Mall. The township passed a resolution in June to allow residents from other municipalities in the county to speak publicly at meetings.
The contract between Cafaro, the company that owns the Millcreek Mall, and Flock expires on Nov. 1 of this year. Millcreek township licensed the contract and Millcreek Police Department oversees the database. Constituents raised concerns about Flock’s security and cited examples of municipalities ending their contracts with the company nationwide.
The Los Angeles Police Department allowed its contract with Flock to expire in July, pointing to possible privacy and security issues. Monroe County, Indiana ended its contract with Flock in July too, a year before its expiration date.
