(WJET/WFXP)– Court paperwork shows that homicide charges brought against a Pittsburgh area man after a drowning near Kelso Beach in July 2025 have been dismissed.
According to court paperwork, homicide and manslaughter charges were dismissed against 22-year-old Derek Bold of Irwin, PA, during his preliminary hearing on Monday.

Court records show Bold appeared before MDJ Laurie Mikelski for that hearing, where she dismissed felony homicide by vehicle while under the influence, along with misdemeanors of homicide by watercraft and involuntary manslaughter.
Other misdemeanor and summary charges, including corruption of minors, person unable to operate a watercraft safely due to alcohol, reckless operation of a watercraft and furnishing alcohol to a minor, were held for court, documents show…
