Erie County residents who lost food purchased with SNAP benefits during last week’s severe storm may be eligible for replacement SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits, according to local and state officials.
The assistance is available to SNAP recipients whose food was spoiled or destroyed as a result of power outages, flooding, or other storm-related damage. Eligible households must act quickly, as requests for replacement benefits must be submitted within 10 days of the disaster, making September 13, the filing deadline.
