For over 20 years, local fire departments have been raising a flag in Millcreek Township on the anniversary of 9/11.
West Ridge and West Lake Fire Departments’ tower trucks raised the giant flag over West 12th and Peninsula Drive Friday evening, with help from crews from Belle Valley and Millcreek Township Fire Departments.

Organizers said the flag is raised annually to honor and pay respects not only to the civilians and first responders who lost their lives saving others, but also the families and friends faced with grief following the tragedy.
