Thursday was Dr. Gertrud Barber’s 115th birthday. Staff, adults and students celebrated the special day with music, sweet treats, and fun activities.
Dr. Barber founded Barber National Institute over 70 years ago, and each year on her birthday, the campus comes together to celebrate the legacy she left behind.

Dr. Barber envisioned a society where people of all abilities belonged and are supported to reach their full potential.
“What she accomplished in her lifetime was nothing short of a miracle but to the scale that we’re operating at now, I would imagine she probably couldn’t believe it and the level of technology that we’re using, I doubt that she would actually believe the world that we live in,” said Patrick Barber, senior VP of the Barber National Institute. “We’re just so grateful to everyone that’s helping us to do good work.”…
