According to ANNA Shelter on Facebook, staff members assisted Pennsylvania State Police on Thursday in the removal of multiple animals from a property where conditions posed serious concerns for their health and well-being.
ANNA team members Briley and Alysha helped transport 14 cats, two dogs, and one bird from the property. One critically ill animal was immediately transferred to the ANNA Wellness Center-Erie, where it received emergency medical attention from Dr. Zeigler.
The remaining animals were taken to the shelter’s separate triage facility, where veterinary staff conducted medical assessments and developed treatment plans. Officials say the animals will remain in the triage building while they receive care and rehabilitation before eventually being moved to the main shelter and made available for adoption.
Shelter staff reported that all of the rescued animals were heavily infested with fleas and parasites, and many were suffering from upper respiratory infections. The animals were also underweight, dehydrated, and in poor overall condition.
Despite the challenges ahead, shelter officials say the animals are now safe and have begun their road to recovery…
