Erie police investigating string of false bomb threats

(WJET/WFXP)– City of Erie police are investigating after a series of false bomb threats were made to local schools and businesses.

Police said bomb threats were reported to several Erie schools, businesses and at least one house in the past several weeks, including Strong Vincent Middle School and the Pine Avenue Dairy Queen location on Monday.

Both of the confirmed threats made on Monday came in within half an hour of each other, with the callers using spoofed phone numbers to hide their identities.

While all of the threats were determined to be false, Erie police said they’ve been dealing with the phony threats for roughly two weeks and they coincide with a BOLO issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives about false threats issued over the summer…
