As we countdown the final days of October, it looks like October 2026 will go down in record books for the one of the driest Octobers on record!
Since records began being kept at ERI, October 2026 will go down as the 5th driest October on record (as of right now). Some years that are ahead of 2026:
- 1. 1924 with only 0.02″ of rain
- 2. 1953 with only 0.40″ of rain
- 3. 1947 with only 0.54″ of rain
- 4. 1952 with only 0.94″ of rain
For a “normal” October we typically see right around 3 inches of rain. This month we have only seen just a hair under 1 inch of rain. That makes a departure for us at just under 2 inches below normal…
