Erie police are investigating the death of an 8-year-old boy whose body was found Monday morning.
Detectives were called to the home on the city’s west side. The Erie County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy, but the coroner said there were no obvious signs of trauma.

The coroner is waiting for lab results before making a ruling on the child’s cause of death. The Erie County District Attorney’s Office is also investigating.
“Anytime that a child passes away in the city, it’s concerning, and we’re going to dispatch detectives there to the scene because at such a young age, it’s something that we’re definitely going to want to take a look at,” said Rick Lorah, chief deputy of City of Erie Police.
The coroner’s office said lab results could take several weeks.
