Woman charged in 2023 homicide ruled mentally incompetent to stand trial

The woman charged with the homicide of a Summit Township man has been ruled mentally incompetent by a judge.

Marisa Rodriguez appeared before Erie County Judge Daniel Brabender on Oct. 17, 2023, where she was ruled mentally incompetent to stand trial.

Judge Brabender ordered Rodriguez to go to Torrence State Hospital.

State police reported that Rodriguez was charged on June 13, 2023, with criminal homicide and abuse of a corpse, among other charges, after troopers were able to find evidence linking her to the death of 66-year-old Michael Maisner.

Police went to Maisner’s home in the 7000 block of Crestview Drive in Summit Twp. for a welfare check on April 12.

The family reported to police that they found Rodriguez hiding in the attic of the home and that she fled after they encountered her.
