Erie man allegedly attempts to play slot machines with counterfeit money

An Erie man was taken into custody after he allegedly attempted to play a slot machine using counterfeit money.

On Thursday, Jan. 18, a 31-year-old Erie man was contacted by Pennsylvania State Police after a Presque Isle Downs and Casino slot machine he was using malfunctioned.

The machine reportedly malfunctioned due to “motion picture money” being inserted instead of actual cash, according to police.

When the man was asked about the incident, he claimed he did not realize the money he had inserted was fake.

Police continue to investigate the situation; however, the Erie man was arrested due to several other warrants unrelated to the incident. The suspect’s name was not given.
