Inspired by a teacher. That’s the story of this week’s Golden Apple Award winner.
This week we were at McDowell Intermediate High School. And next door was a teacher in the midst of giving a final exam. We surprised her with the Golden Apple Award.
These math students stayed focused on their test, as we presented teacher Kara Wenzel with the Golden Apple Award. She’s been teaching for eight years thanks to the inspiration she received at Fairview High School
“I had a great math teacher in high school and I always did well in math classes, so it just kinda went hand in hand. I would help my friends do their homework and study. I was inspired and wanted to do the same for other kids in the future,” said Kara Wenzel, Golden Apple teacher.

Student nominator Stanlee Kleiner said Ms. Wenzel’s many words of encouragement started to make her believe in herself, and Ms. Wenzel’s motivation has driven her to grow and achieve
