VisitErie reveals where visitors to Erie come from, where they visit

VisitErie’s 2023 market research has revealed some interesting facts about who’s coming here and why.

The research reveals 60% of visitors are coming from out of state. It additionally showed most visitors are going to Upper Peach Street to take advantage of tax-free shopping on clothing and shoes.

It’s not just the big box stores getting out-of-state traffic. The owner of Moosehead Pottery said tourists help keep her small business alive.

“I get people from Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Buffalo. I’ve had people from other states, I’ve had people from North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Colorado and Alaska. I’ve had people from all over,” said Dina Petro, owner of Moosehead Pottery.

The research also revealed most visitors are staying overnight which is good news for local restaurants and hotels.
