(WJET/WFXP/ YourErie.com )– The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission has provided an update on efforts to replace the covering on the U.S. Brig Niagara with work expected to begin soon.
The PHMC said Thursday they have received the materials and arranged rentals for the equipment needed to replace the covering on the Brig Niagara with work expected to begin next week however, a specific date was not given.

Resources from other regional sites and other professional services needed have also been brought in along with volunteers and staff members from the Erie Maritime Museum to ensure a quicker, more effective solution according to PHMC Director of External Affairs Howard Pollman.
Daily operations at the maritime museum will still continue with staff members routinely checking systems and infrastructure with the conditions and concerns reported to PHMC leadership.
