Erie native spending next few weeks as part of opening act for Willie Nelson

An Erie native is strumming his way to making his big break.

Jacob Flaugh will be spending the next couple of weeks preparing to be a part of the opening act for country singer and songwriter Willie Nelson. The touring musician will be playing guitar for Karley Scott Sollins for the majority of February in Florida.

Flaugh graduated from Berklee College of Music earning his master’s shortly after he made the big leap of moving to Nashville with little to nothing in his bank account.

Flaugh said he’s been passionate about music all of his life, adding social media has helped him express himself and make connections in the ‘music city.’

Second step cleared to bring a new naval ship to Erie

“She sent me a text the day of rehearsal like ‘Hey. Willie Nelson is looking to have us open. Are you available? And I’m like yeah!” Jacob said. “Don’t worry about what other people think just focus on yourself, focus on what your passion is and really don’t be afraid to push a boundary. If there’s a chance you can take, just take it. For sure.”
